A thriving garden does more than look beautiful. It creates space for life to flourish. At Miron, we believe meaningful change often starts with small actions. That is why we transformed part of our headquarters into a place where honeybees, wildflowers, and people can reconnect with nature.

Save the Buzz of Your Garden

The buzz of the bees

Why bees matter more than ever

Honeybees are vital for healthy ecosystems, but their numbers are dropping globally. In the Netherlands, over 360 bee species exist, and more than half are at risk. Pesticide use, diseases, parasites, climate change, intensive farming, and habitat loss are all threats. The impact goes beyond bees. More than one-third of the world's food crops rely on bees and other insects for pollination. Without these key pollinators, biodiversity, food production, and ecosystem health will face serious challenges.

Partnering with Bijenbaas

This initiative started with Bijenbaas. They’re a social enterprise focused on sustainable development and responsible beekeeping. We chose to partner with Bijenbaas because we believe working with nature creates lasting positive change. We care for the bees with gentle methods. These methods help them stay healthy and act naturally. This approach helps the colonies thrive and fosters a healthy local ecosystem.

Lessons learned from the bees

The project is not only beneficial for biodiversity. It is also an opportunity for our team to learn. Through workshops and hands-on experiences, we are gaining a deeper understanding of the essential role bees play in maintaining ecological balance. We are also learning about honey production, from hive to jar. For us, however, the value of this initiative goes beyond honey. It is about creating the conditions for nature to thrive.

At Miron, we often speak about preserving the vitality of natural products. Supporting pollinators is another way of supporting the natural systems that make those products possible in the first place. Spring is a season of new beginnings. For us, this project represents a simple but meaningful step toward giving back.

How you can help

You don’t need a large garden or a big budget to support pollinators. Simple actions can create change:

  • Plant flowers that attract pollinators.

  • Opt for native species whenever possible.

  • Cut back on pesticide use.

  • Set up natural areas for insects to thrive.

  • Back local biodiversity efforts.

Every garden, balcony, or green space can boost a healthier ecosystem.
