Dr. Cowan is a physician, author, and speaker known for his holistic approach to health. In 2015, he founded Dr. Cowan's Garden with his family.

The brand focuses on three areas: human health, environmental health, and economic health. A key part of that mission is increasing plant diversity in everyday diets.

This idea led to the creation of the company's vegetable powders. The vegetables are harvested fresh and carefully dehydrated. They are then stored in Miron glass to help protect their natural character during storage.

The challenge

Preserving freshness without a compromise

From insight to solution

The idea for Dr. Cowan’s Garden began with a simple observation. While dining at a restaurant, Dr. Cowan noticed chefs using vegetable powders as seasonings.

Inspired, the team set out to create their own powders using the abundant vegetable diversity from their farm.

But one challenge quickly became clear: how to preserve freshness, nutrients, and vitality without preservatives.

A search for true preservation

To protect the quality of their powders, Dr. Cowan and his team tested multiple storage solutions. They needed packaging that could maintain the product’s natural state over time.

A simple experiment made the difference.

“We placed two tomatoes from the same plant in different jars. One in clear glass, one in Miron. After three and a half months, the tomato in the Miron jar showed far fewer signs of aging.”

This test confirmed what they were looking for: packaging that actively supports product stability over time.

Beyond organic

Dr. Cowan’s philosophy goes beyond standard organic practices.

They work directly with their farms in the United States. This way, they control the entire production process, from root to soil. Their approach goes beyond USDA organic standards. They sometimes use vegetables from biodynamic farms, elevating organic principles further.

The Process

Their production method uses high-heat dehydration to reach a specific consumption point. Then, it employs low-heat dehydration to keep the most nutrients.

The result is a product designed to retain as much of its natural value as possible, when properly protected.

Preserving natural vitality and freshness

Packaging as an essential ingredient

For Dr. Cowan’s Garden, packaging is not secondary. It is fundamental to product quality.

From the beginning, Miron glass has been an integral part of their process.

Miron’s violet glass helps slow down natural degradation processes by shielding the powders from light exposure. This supports product stability and helps maintain their quality over time.

This allows the brand to offer products that stay as close as possible to their freshly harvested state, without relying on additives or preservatives.

The impact is clear:

  • improved product stability over time

  • preserved nutritional value

  • extended usable freshness

Miron glass enables Dr. Cowan’s Garden to stay true to its philosophy: delivering uncompromised, naturally preserved products.
