Lids

MIRON provides a selection of lids to go with the cosmetic and wide neck jars. To hermetically seal the jars, each lid contains a violet-colored sealing element. This is made from PHAN, a three-layer laminated product with two layers of solid PET films on the outside and a layer of foamed EPE on the inside. It is the foamed core that provides the resilience needed for airtight sealing. We offer two styles of black lids: the modern lid with its straight lines and sharp edges, or the classic lid with round lines. We also provide child-resistant lids for products that need to be kept away from children, such as medicinal or cannabis-related products.

Let’s talk about threads

...But what exactly are threads?

Simply put, threads are the protruding lines around the neck of the bottle. They ensure that the matching closure will have a tight fit to protect your natural products from being tampered with or from leakage. The thread size depends on the size of the bottle neck as well as our closures. Our bottles and jars and corresponding closures must have matching threads. If in doubt, it’s always advisable to contact our sales department.

GPI and GCMI

GPI and GCMI are the US norm for neck finishes and are followed by two numbers written like this: 22/400*. The first number indicates the neck finish diameter and is measured across the outside of the bottle’s threads. The second number refers to the height and thread style. Meaning the number of thread turns around the neck. Simply match the GPI or GCMI code listed in the product description to purchase the correct corresponding items.
* Please note that if a bottle has an additional ring on the neck, this may affect the choice of matching closure. For more details, please get in touch with your MIRON representative.

Special thread

A special thread differs from the standard thread, because some MIRON products are tailored to unique (market) demands, differing from standard packaging shapes/sizes. Our lids that fit these jars are designed to create the perfect fit. Simply match the Modern or Classic lid size (given in mm) to the corresponding threaded jars. To simplify this process for you, we have added the appropriate combinations on the product pages. When you click on your favorite item and go to the product description page, you can scroll down to find the matching products. For example, the Modern 32 mm will correspond to the Ceres 5 ml, 32 special threads.

PP, SAN, and UREA

PP (polypropylene) falls under the plastic identification code number 5. The material is easily produced and has a high degree of purity. It comes with a range of benefits: it’s difficult to break, lightweight and 100% recyclable. Due to its properties, PP is suitable for various applications, including food, cosmetic and natural healing product packaging. SAN (styrene-acrylonitrile) is a heat-resistant thermoplastic. It is one of the safest plastics, covered by recycling code 7. Parts made from SAN have a remarkable shine and are extremely durable. It’s because of these properties that SAN resins are frequently used for premium-quality packaging. In addition, it’s reusable, safe for food and is mainly used for dry products. Urea formaldehyde molding material (UF) is also known as amino plastic. This type of material has become a common component of closure applications. The UF resins are noted for their high strength and rigidity.

Smooth

Smooth refers to the tangible elements of the closure, having an even surface that is free from perceptible patterns, ribbing, or indentations.

Phan

The violet sealing element in the lid is made of PHAN. This is a three-layer laminated product, consisting of two layers of solid PET film on the outside, and a layer of foamed EPE on the inside. It’s the foamed core that provides the resilience needed for an airtight seal.

At MIRON Violetglass we ensure that our closures always fit the corresponding bottles and jars. However, sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge to find the right closure that fits the needs of your natural ingredients. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have and to become a part of your product journey.
